David E. Butt
David E. Butt is a founding member and current treasurer of the Central Pennsylvania Pastel Society. Upon retirement as Professor Emeritis from the Pennsylvania State University in 2001, Dave, a lifelong musician and photographer, undertook the challenge of “learning how to think and paint with pastel.” He’s studied with Ruth Kempner and Linda Shimmel at the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania in Lemont, Pennsylvania, and has taken workshops in pastel with Robert Carsten, Maggie Price, and Chuck Hall. Dave’s work has been exhibited in numerous shows and juried exhibitions sponsored by the Central Pennsylvania Pastel Society and the Art Alliance.
Dave’s landscapes reflect his passion for the subject and his desire to capture the spirit of the moment.
